In parallel to the Paris Design Week last September, the Maison&Objet show is the design meeting place, the great detector of emerging trends and consumer movements. Our strategic planner was there and deciphers for you in this article the choices of this edition. Obviously, we opt for a healthy and comforting home through a better traceability of products and a strengthened connection under the theme of Meta Sensible in the home. Meta Sensible was the inspirational theme for this edition. Simply put, it’s about combining today’s increasingly idealized and digitalized world with a return to our roots by meeting our commitments. Here are the main Home trends observed.
Eco-responsibility
Conscious of their impact on the planet, all the actors of the design industry now adopt an eco-responsible approach by using renewable materials, supporting local creation and designing product lines that are more respectful of nature. At the heart of consumers’ concerns, the climate emergency imposes new ways of consuming with the need for sustainable furniture and the emergence of recycled/recyclable.
The know-how of craftsmen, a return to grace
This return is explained by the arrival of a young generation eager to perpetuate the values of craftsmanship and to give as much importance to aesthetics as to ethics. The attraction of buyers for the made in France is also a source of explanation referring to eco-responsibility. We also note that in this particular social
We also note that in this particular social, economic and political context, the productions tend to be relocated in France to highlight the know-how of the craftsmen who know how to have short channels and obtain materials of proximity.
Tender and enthusiastic color palettes
Two strong currents – The well-being color trends like natural, beige, cognac, browns echoing the authentic and organic versus colors full of energy with mineral yellow, orange, Majorelle blue. After two years of pandemic, it’s not surprising to surround yourself with positive and cozy colors to fight against the gloom.
Comforting materials
A need to connect with nature through wood and the quest for softness with textures like velvet and wool. The tactile experience soothes and responds to the consumer’s desire for comfort.
Ever softer shapes
The trend is moving away from right angles to curves to soften the decor.
In this quest for soothing and well-being, furniture plebiscites rounded shapes. We bring softness to the interior with wave-shaped cutouts and rounded corners to allow users to feel protected.
Raw and durable materials
Along with warm colors, organic shapes and cozy materials, raw and uncluttered materials are on the trend list. In a responsible perspective, eco-design must have its place among designers where the achievements must be more virtuous. Stone, terracotta, metal, paper or recycled plastic are revived.
Obviously and you will have understood, the Home trends respond to a desire for well-being, nature, ethics, good humor and eco-responsibility because “Happiness is to continue to desire what we have” said Saint Augustin.
